A Video Resource Library for the 7th Circuit
This morning’s news brought an intriguing and potentially exciting report from the 7th Circuit Bar Association in Chicago. Beth Gaus from the Federal Defender Program, Christopher Esbrook from Kirkland & Ellis, and Seth Thomas from Ice Miller are the co-chairs of an e-mentoring program that provides a video library of interviews with members of the bar. The collective wisdom of judges and practitioners is now available on a password-protected site. Read the ABA Journal article here:

To my mind, this is what video does best. This collection of wide-ranging interviews allows new members to search for a specific judge, hear what an experienced practitioner has to say, and answers questions they didn’t even know they had! The ABA Journal reports that “the videos provide anecdotes and tangible examples of best trial practices that span decades of legal work, as well as specific tips for written briefs, oral arguments and courtroom etiquette.”
Bravo to Gaus, a staff attorney, and to Thomas and Esbrook, both associates, for their important work on this video archive! We need more libraries like this one that give detailed advice about how to present yourself in court.
